#LightUpMBC Live - Global Awareness Campaign

October 13th, 2020 8pm-10pm EST

Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) Awareness Campaign

Tune-in to #LightUpMBC Live, a virtual event, on October 13th at 8 p.m. EST on @METAvivor Facebook Live or Metavivor.org. It will feature inspiring stories and musical performances to raise funds for metastatic breast cancer research.  Viewers will be able to hear from #LightUpMBC patient ambassadors as we zoom them into the livestream to show us iconic landmarks lighting in their cities.

This year over 115 iconic landmarks in all 50 U.S. States and across the globe will light in green, pink and teal throughout October in support of Annapolis, MD based non-profit METAvivor Research and Support Inc. The goal of this #LightUpMBC campaign is to raise awareness for stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer and the lack of research funding. We would like the public to consider METAvivor Research and Support Inc as their breast cancer organization of choice. To find out if a landmark will be lit in your city please see the list provided below.

How Can You Help?

  1. We really need the help of the public for this campaign to be successful.  We are asking you to please share our social media posts with the hashtags #LightUpMBC, #MooreFightMooreStrongand #Metavivor
  2. It is very important the public understands the reason behind these lightings. While 30% of early stage breast cancer patients will metastasize, only 2-5% of all breast cancer funds raised go to stage IV breast cancer research to truly find a cure, or make this disease a lifelong manageable illness.
  3. Over 42,000 lives are taken annually by this disease in the U.S. alone - that is 115 women and men lost daily.  600,000 lives are lost to MBC worldwide. The life expectancy on average is only 18-24 months.
  4. Please consider METAvivor Research and Support Inc. as your organization of choice to change this. 100% of METAvivor funds raised are put toward Stage IV peer reviewed breast cancer research to truly find a cure.
